Axilla

AXILLA

It is tha pyramidal space situated between the upper part of arm and the chest wall. It is four-sided pyramid, and has the following. 

  1. An apex
  2. A base
  3. Four walls

Boundaries

 (A)Anterior wall - formed by- 1-The pactoralis major muscle
                                       2   -The clavipectoral fascia
                                         3-  The pectoralis minor muscle .                                                                      (B) Posterior wall - is formed by-1-Subscapularis
                                              2-  Teres major muscle
                                                3- latismus dorsai muscle                                                        (C) Meadial wall - formed by-1-Upper four ribs with intercostal muscles.
                                            2-Upper part of serratus anterior                                                             (D)  Lateral wall - formed by -1- Shaft of humerus in the region of the bicepital  groove
                                          2-  Coracobrachialis and short head of bicep brachi

1 - Axillary arteryand its branches
2 - Axillary vein and its branches
3 - Infraclavicular part of brachial plexus
4- Five groups of axillary lymph nodes.
